Abstract

Personal is political. The problem is that not many people are aware of the fact. Even the intellectuals do not realize that their lives are very much influenced and at the same time influence politics. This makes them afraid of being involved in some practically political actions. Referring to Bourdieau’s “habitus”, this will be an opinion paper commenting on the academicians’ participation into the case of water tariff problems in Salatiga and how they perceive the social movement for enhancing participatory public policy making. This overview of the academicians’ attitude towards politics will reflect the socio-cultural mindset that influences the practice of corruption in Indonesia. Knowing the mindset, this paper will suggest some practical actions that may initiate the transformation in Indonesian society. Pendahuluan

Makalah ini merupakan pengalaman berharga sebagai aktivis mahasiswa di Kota Salatiga. Cerita tentang Gerakan Sosial di Salatiga ini merupakan sebuah pengantar untuk memasuki melihat Habitus Kaum intelektual.
